Travis County Parks plans to conduct a prescribed burn at Reimers Ranch Park on Monday, October 2, 2017. The prescribed burn will take place between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., and will take two to four hours to complete. Travis County Parks is conducting the prescribed burn in cooperation with local fire departments and natural resource agencies.
The prescribed burn is being implemented to improve the health of the grassland and woodlands communities within the park by removing invading shrubs, reducing the amount of dead woody material on the ground and enhancing the health and diversity of the native plant community.
The prescribed burn may be conducted with north or south winds. Southerly winds will carry the smoke across the park and adjacent ranch lands, while northerly winds will carry the smoke across Hamilton Pool Road and the communities to the south, which will include Stagecoach Ranch. Limited smoke impacts are expected and they should be relatively light and/or of a short duration.
The park will remain open during the prescribed burn and no closures are expected, however the prescribed burn is located along the park entrance road and there may be some delays along the road.
Reimers Ranch Park is located at 23610 Hamilton Pool Road, Dripping Springs, TX 78620.
