Bob Wentz Park experiences large crowds during holiday weekends. When the park reaches capacity, it will close to all vehicular and pedestrian entry. Visitors traveling to the park should be aware of potential closure.

Pavilion Parking Lot Closed
The parking lot next to the community pavilion will be closed while the building is removed. Design for a new pavilion is currently underway.
2022 Prescribed Burns
Travis County Parks plans to conduct multiple prescribed burns at East Metropolitan Park sometime between June 1, 2022, and November 1, 2022. We do not know the exact date because the projects are weather dependent. The projects are being implemented to improve the health of the park ecosystem and reduce wildfire hazards. There are six projects planned. Each project is between 5 and 20 acres and will be completed in a day. Additional information will be provided as the projects get closer to implementation.

Hamilton Pool Preserve
Guided Hikes Suspended
The Saturday morning guided hikes at Hamilton Pool Preserve are suspended until further notice.
Trail Under Overhanging Cliff Closed
The section of trail that goes underneath the overhanging cliff at the pool is closed for safety concerns. Visitors can access the beach, but cannot walk all the way around the pool to below the waterfall. Rocks have been falling from the cliffs above the trail. We continue to consult with geologists about this hazard.
Fully Booked Today
Hamilton Pool Preserve is fully booked today. If you do not have a reservation please do not drive to the preserve.
Reservations Needed Every Day of the Week
Reservations are required every day of the week to visit Hamilton Pool Preserve. Visitors cannot remain in the preserve after their reservation period ends. Please arrive at least an hour before your reservation period ends to give yourself time to enjoy the preserve. No entry allowed after the reservation time period is past.
Water Access - Currently Allowed
Hamilton Pool Preserve visitors are currently allowed to get into the water from the beach. Only a limited portion of the pool is available for water access due to the problem of falling rocks. As always, whether swimming will be allowed depends on factors beyond our control, such as bacteria levels and recent rain. Water access is never guaranteed with a reservation.
Now Accepting Reservations Through October 2022
You can now make Hamilton Pool Preserve reservations online for dates through October 2022. Reservations for dates in November 2022 and beyond are not available yet. Swimming is not guaranteed with your reservation. The trail underneath the overhanging cliff that leads to the bottom of the waterfall is closed. See alert message above titled "Trail Under Overhanging Cliff Closed."
Hippie Hollow Park
Hippie Hollow and Annual or Lifetime Senior Permits
Starting March 1, 2020, Hippie Hollow will no longer sell or accept any Annual or Lifetime Senior Permits. Senior sticker permits will no longer waive entry fees at Hippie Hollow.

Due to ongoing maintenance concerns at Hippie Hollow, restroom facilities and running water are not available. Limited numbers of portable toilets will be available. Please call 512-266-3857 with questions. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Loop 360 Boat Ramp-Day Use Closed
From May 20, 2022 to September 30, 2022 the Loop 360 Boat Ramp is open for watercraft launching and boating only. Day use activities such as picnicking, grilling, swimming, and shoreline fishing will resume on October 1, 2022.

The secondary entrance to Northeast Metro located on Killingsworth Ln (accessed from Wells Branch Pkwy) is only open on weekends and holidays. It is not meant as a public road to be used for daily commutes.

Beginning May 2, 2022, Pace Bend Park will no longer offer primitive camping due to staffing limitations. We will continue to take reservation requests for our 18 improved camping sites on a first-come first-served basis.

Reimers Ranch Park Becomes an International Dark Sky Park
On Tuesday, November 9, 2021, Reimers Ranch Park was proclaimed to be an International Dark Sky Park by the International Dark Sky Association. We are excited by this prestigious honor, given to parks with dark skies and responsible outdoor lighting, as well as a commitment to preserving dark skies around the world.
Reimers Observatory Resumes Limited Number of Programs
Reimers Observatory is resuming a limited schedule of public programs. Reservations are required. We typically post a new program about 1 to 3 weeks in advance. See the Reservations Section of this web page. Once a program fills up it will no longer be shown. We hope to increase the frequency of programs this summer as we work through our staffing level issues. We thank you for your patience.
Reimers Ranch Park
Road to Beach Closed To Vehicles on Weekends and Holidays
The road to the river shoreline in Reimers Ranch Park is currently closed to vehicles on weekends and holidays. Pedestrians can access the shoreline. The road is open for vehicle drop offs on weekdays. This policy has been adopted to promote public safety. We will open the road 7 days a week after the busy swimming season.
