Travis County Parks plans to conduct multiple prescribed burns at Reimers Ranch Park the week of January 2, 2023. The prescribed burns will occur between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. and are planned for Wednesday and/or Thursday.

Travis County Parks is conducting the prescribed burns in cooperation with personnel from the local fire departments and natural resource agencies.

The prescribed burns are intended to reduce wildfire danger and improve ecosystem health by removing invading shrubs, consuming dead and downed vegetation, reducing the number of exotic species, and enhancing the health and diversity of the native plant community.

The prescribed burns are expected to be conducted with a northerly wind direction. This will carry smoke to the south across the park and toward ranches and communities to the south. Smoke will be visible throughout the day. The Pedernales Canyon Trail community could be impacted by smoke. Smoke impacts are expected to be relatively light and short in duration.

Reimers Ranch Park will be open but portions of the park may be closed. The multi-use trail located east of Pogue Creek is expected to be closed. No other visitor impacts are expected.

Reimers Ranch Park is located at 23610 Hamilton Pool Road, Dripping Springs, TX 78620.
