Travis County Parks plans to conduct a prescribed burn in the Wilbarger Creek Project Area (east of Manor, Texas) on September 27, 2022. The prescribed burn will occur between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and will take approximately three to six hours to complete.

Travis County Parks is conducting the prescribed burn in cooperation with personnel from the local fire departments and natural resource agencies.

The prescribed burn is intended to reduce wildfire danger and improve ecosystem health by removing invading shrubs, consuming dead and downed vegetation, reducing the number of exotic species, and enhancing the health and diversity of the native plant community.

The prescribed burn will be implemented with northerly winds, which will carry the smoke to the south, across rural ranches and residences between Jones and Parsons Roads. The smoke could be dense for short periods immediately adjacent to the burn but will quickly disperse. Smoke is expected to be evident throughout the burn day but, due to the small size of the burn, impacts are expected to be light. Impacts will be limited to Littig Road and to a lesser extent Parsons Road.

The prescribed burns will be located at 12043 Jones Road, Manor, TX 78653
