Travis County Parks plans to conduct a prescribed burn at Reimers Ranch Park on January 29, 2020. The plan is to complete the entire project in one day but a second day may be necessary. The prescribed burn will occur between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. and will take approximately two to four hours to complete on each day.

Travis County Parks is conducting the prescribed burn in cooperation with personnel from the local fire departments and natural resource agencies.

The prescribed burn is intended to reduce wildfire danger and improve ecosystem health by removing invading shrubs, consuming dead and downed vegetation, reducing the number of exotic species, and enhancing the health and diversity of the native plant community.

The prescribed burn may be conducted with any wind direction but north winds are anticipated which will carry the smoke to the south, across the park, nearby ranches and communities, and ultimately Hamilton Pool Road. Smoke will be visible throughout the day but are expected to be light.

The park will remain open; however, some portions of the park specifically the Multi-use Trail will close for part of the week.

Reimers Ranch Park is located at 23610 Hamilton Pool Road, Dripping Springs, TX 78620.

Media note: Please call the PIO (contact listed below), or check in at the park fee booth for additional information. The project is relatively remote and access will be limited.
