Travis County Parks plans to conduct a prescribed burn at Hamilton Pool Preserve the week of June 29, 2020. The burn is expected to occur between 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and will take approximately two to three hours to complete.

Travis County Parks is conducting the prescribed burns in cooperation with personnel from the local fire departments and natural resource agencies.

The prescribed burn is part of an ongoing restoration effort on a 30-acre prairie near the park entrance and will help maintain the grassland by removing invading shrubs, reducing the number of exotic species, and enhancing the health and diversity of the native plant community.

The fire is expected to be conducted with southerly winds, which will carry the smoke away from Hamilton Pool Road and across Reimers Ranch Park and other communities to the north. Due to the small size of the project and the distance between the prescribed burn and the adjacent communities, very little smoke should be visible and no impacts are expected.

Hamilton Pool Preserve will be closed.

Hamilton Pool Preserve is located at: 24300 Hamilton Pool Road, Dripping Springs, 78620.
