Travis County Parks plans to conduct a prescribed burn at Reimers Ranch Park on Monday, November 20, 2017. The prescribed burn will take place between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., and will take two to four hours to complete. Travis County Parks is conducting the prescribed burn in cooperation with local fire departments and natural resource agencies.
The prescribed burn is being implemented to improve the health of the grassland and woodlands communities within the park by removing invading shrubs, reducing the amount of dead woody material on the ground, and enhancing the health and diversity of the native plant community.
Due to the small size of the prescribed burn, limited smoke impacts are expected. The smoke will mainly affect the Park and the Fall Creek community located to the north.
The park will remain open during the prescribed burn however portions of the park will be closed. The North Shore Parking Area and climbing routes will be closed and portions of the Lower River Trail, Multi-Use Trail and Mountain Biking Trails may be closed.
Reimers Ranch Park is located at 23610 Hamilton Pool Road, Dripping Springs, TX 78620.
Media: The park will remain open but due to the location along the park entrance road no access to the prescribed burn will be provided. Please call the Park Land Manager, Glen Gillman at 512-844-7480 for more information
